There's a practical reason for the gap. To capture a true overhead view, the phone needs to sit directly above the putting area while the tripod stays clear of your stroke. The Putting Bar creates that offset, so you can finally record the relationship between putter, ball and intended line from above.

Setup
Three steps.
Built to become a habit.
Step one
Screw it onto your POD.
It threads onto the standard 1/4"-20 mount on the POD head. Four fixed hole positions set how far the camera reaches over the ball.
Step two
Mount your phone at the far end.
A MagSafe mount or the STRIVON phone holder screws onto any of the four sliding studs, with 4 cm of fine adjustment.
Step three
Fill the pouch. Hang it opposite.
The pouch it ships in doubles as the counterweight. Add golf balls until it balances your phone. That's the whole calibration.

Your phone creates the offset. The STRIVON pouch and a few golf balls create the counterbalance. Adjust it to your phone, then record.
